Classroom Elections - Voting Practice

School voting drills

Hi everyone! This is Nyla from Trinidad and Tobago. How are things in your part of the world? I understand that yesterday, some schools were closed due to the very cold weather. I had the day off to but it was not because of any snow.

Yesterday, I proudly dipped my finger into the electoral ink as I practiced my civil right to vote. In Tobago, we have island wide elections once every four years wherein in winning party gets to run the Tobago House of Assembly.

This has been a very exciting time for us and we (my fellow teachers at school and I) wanted our students to be aware of the election process. We held a mock election campaign, debate and voting on Friday. The video below is a quick snippet of the winning party's campaign speech!
